About the Book

Book:  Of Ink and Sea

The Bristol Sea divides Cornwall and Wales—and sings an enticing tale to Sienna Rothesay, an English born, American raised photographer.  Since childhood, she’s fought the temptation to listen to its siren song.
When Ioan Waif, an enigmatic neighbor from her Welsh days calls her home to care for her ailing grandfather, Sienna is faced with an old myth that hints at a nefarious secret, linking her ancestors with Ioan’s.
To uncover the truth, she must walk the blurry path between legend and reality but with more questions than answers, she fears giving into her heart will cost Sienna her head.

Book Review

I was so excited to read this book-I mean, who wouldn’t? It’s a split-time novel with fantasy elements such as myths and curses and it takes place in England. Not to mention, it involves an intriguing and mysterious man.

I did thoroughly enjoy the plotline. While Sienna wasn’t my favorite character-a bit too headstrong for me-I did love the characters of Ioan and William. Ioan was a mysterious character that seemed to be hiding some secrets from Sienna. Secrets that involved how and why he and Sienna were connected, and why Sienna could hear whispers from the sea.

William was a fun character. I don’t understand why Sienna gave him such a hard time. Yes, he was flirtatious but he also seemed like he would be a loyal friend. And deep down, he seemed to have a caring heart.

I liked the fact that this book was split-time. The more I read this genre, the more I find myself enjoying it. And this novel was no exception. However, I was less fond of the plotline that took place in the past in Of Ink and Sea than of the plotline in the present (even though they were intertwined). I think that’s because I liked the characters of Kenan and Jowan less. That being said, I loved Elyna and wish I could have gotten to know her more.

Overall, if you are someone who likes fantasy and England I would recommend this book.

I had received a copy of this book as part of the Celebrate Lit Blogging Team and was required to give an honest review.
